Downbound in a gale, her steering gear became disabled and she reportedly stranded and broke up, a total loss. Crew of 2 men, a woman cook and a boy were taken off by Lifesaving Service crew. She was later recovered and lasted to the 1930's. Conflicting story from Bay City times reports she was located near Gull Island by Thunder Bay Island NW tip. She was on her first trip with her new owners, and their family. After rescue by the Life Saving Service they were left with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

LIFE SAVING STATION REMARKS
The Julia Larson was a family owned boat. owned by brother-in-law her loss left them destitute. It was her first trip after their purchase so that her loss took every dollar they had. They were furnished with clothing from the W.N.R.A. stores and Keeper obtained transportation home for them on the D & C Line of steamers. This crew was instrumental in saving $800 worth of her cargo, we also stripped her of sails rigging etc. which is stored at the station.
